ENTRY AND START SYSTEM (for Entry Function) > Back Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate

for Preparation Click here

DESCRIPTION

When the back door entry lock and unlock functions do not operate, one of the following may be malfunctioning: 1) power door lock control system; 2) outside electrical key oscillator (outside luggage); or 3) certification ECU, or 4) back door outside handle.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. The entry and start system (for entry function) uses a multiplex communication system (LIN communication system) and CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting (Click here). Troubleshoot the entry and start system (for entry function) after confirming that the communication system is functioning properly.
  2. When using the intelligent tester with the engine switch off to troubleshoot: Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3, and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at 1.5-second intervals until communication between the tester and vehicle begins.

1.CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION
  1. Check that the doors unlock When the door control switch on the master switch assembly is operated, and that the back door unlatches when the open switch is pushed (Click here).

    OK:
    Back door unlatches normally.

NG
GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM (PROCEED TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE) (Click here)
OK

2.CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT

    B210672E01
  1. Bring the electrical key transmitter near the outside electrical key oscillator (outside luggage), and perform an entry back door open and entry lock functions check.

    NOTICE:
If the key is brought within 0.2 m (0.656 ft.) of the rear bumper, communication is not possible.

    HINT:
    1. When the electrical key transmitter is brought near the electrical key antenna, the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.
    2. If the operation is normal, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation.

    OK:
    Entry functions operate normally.

3.PERFORM KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE INSPECTION

    B210677E01
  1. Diagnostic mode inspection (outside electrical key oscillator (outside luggage))

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Entry & Start / Key Communication Check / Overhead + Back Door.

    5. When the electrical key transmitter is held at the same height as the rear bumper upper surface and aligned with the center of the rear of the vehicle, check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

      HINT:
If the buzzer sounds, it can be determined that the outside electrical key oscillator (outside luggage) is operating normally.

      OK:
      Wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU

4.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - OUTSIDE ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR)
  1. Disconnect the certification ECU connector.

    B200007E01
  1. Disconnect the outside electrical key oscillator (outside luggage) connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    D35-19 (CLG8) - G34-1 (CLG5)
    Always
    Below 1 Ω
    D35-20 (CG8B) - G34-2 (CLGB)
    Always
    Below 1 Ω
    D35-19 (CLG8) - Body ground
    Always
    10 kΩ or higher
    D35-20 (CG8B) - Body ground
    Always
    10 kΩ or higher
